Book Buddies

Book Buddies
This year in English class we are book buddies to the Kindergarten class. They are supposed to read to us and if they don’t know a word we help them. We are also supposed to make sure that they point with their figure and to pronouns each word correctly. We do this to help them learn to read and it is also fun doing this. If your buddy finishes all their books we get to read to them and they get to choose the book.

I like the books buddies and I think that it was a good idea. The reason that I think it is a good idea is because you can teach your buddy things and they might even teach you some things. I really like the book buddies and I like how it is going so far this year.

Have you ever had a book Buddy?
Have you ever someone with their reading?

Made up Journal About a Holocaust Survivor

10th of Tevet
Dear Journal,

I am a Holocaust Survivor from Germany. When I came to Jerusalem in 1946 I was injured, lucky me I survived. I’m really luck that a pickup truck came by otherwise I would have been a goner. I felt bad for the other people and I am sad that some of my family did not make it.

I am on my way to Jerusalem and I hope that I can find a job there.  I wish that I never had to go through this and that I could just live in peace. I hope that this will not happen again.
Sincerely, Judah Steinberg

What We Are Doing in Science

   Science and Ecocolumns

In science we made “Ecocolumn” with our partner. Now we are adding different kinds of pollution. For example, Fertilizer, Acid rain, and Road salt, my group is polluting the ecocolumn with Road salt. Each group is now taking notes and polluting their ecocolumn. We are also measuring the ecocolumns using pH levels. My group’s pH level is around 5 and 4. Some group’s pH levels are really low just like mine.

After a while of polluting the ecocolumns we started to notice some changes. For example, plants and animals started dying and is affecting the ecocolumns. I leaned that when plants die and animals die it affects the whole ecocolumn. I also learned that most things inside an ecocolumns die when the pH levels are too high or too low.

An ecosystem is a place where animals live. For example, a forest, pond, lake and other things like that. Making the ecocolumns made me understand more about ecosystems. I learned that if one thing dies the other will fallow. For example, if a fish dies then the plant will die because the fish gets Co from the plant and the plant gets Co2 from the fish. So each thing relies on each other. In my group’s ecocolumn we saw that the things inside the ecocolumn died when we did not even pollute it.

Have you ever measured the pH level of something?

Have you ever made an ecocolumn before?

Where The Red Fern Grows

Where the Red Fern Grows
I am currently reading the book called Where the Red Fern Grows In the Beginning of the book there is a kid named Billy. Billy was walking along the road when he saw an old red bone hound. It was fighting other bigger and meaner dogs. The old red bone hound was fighting for a long time until the dog became free. The red bone hound was on its way to freedom when a big bird dog came out of no ware.  Billy could see that the red bone hound had its ear split in half since the big bird dog came in so fast that it sliced the ear in half. The red bone hound was heart so badly that it had no Intention of fighting any more as it was squalling down the road.
When I was reading that part of the book I felt so bad for the red bone hound and how it got injured so much. If I was the hound I will be so scared and angry that the other dogs hurt me so much I would just want to fight back. Don’t you ever feel like you want to fight back even though you can’t because they are so much older and stronger than you? I would want to do that but I probably can’t. I felt really sorry for the dog and how it got hurt badly.
Have you ever been in a situation like this?
Do you have a dog as a pet?
Do you want a dog for a pet?
