My Trip to Islandwood

Islandwood

When my class went to Islandwood I was really excited. Are schedule was… When we woke at 6:45 we got dressed and did whatever, at about 7:20 we went to the dining hall were we ate breakfast. After breakfast we went to this room to Tefilah. When we finished Tefilah we met the 4 other schools at this thing called the friendship circle and wait until they have finished Tefilah. After that we went with our field group to do things at Islandwood until 4:30. Then we had dinner at about 7:00 and went to sleep At 9:25.

One of my favorite things was when we went to Blakely Harbor. At Blakely Harbor we ate our lunch and then we went to explore the Harbor. For example, my group went looking for crabs. We found so many I even held one. Another thing was when we went to the Canopy tower it was so scary it had about 200 stairs, although When we got to the top there was a really good view.

I really liked Islandwood and hope that we can come back to Islandwood again sometime.

Reading Blog Post

I am currently reading the book called Where the Red Fern Grows. This book is about a boy named Billy. Billy wants two hound dogs. I can’t believe it Billy saved up his money for two years that’s a long time. When Billy earned the money he went to his grandpa and told him to order the two hound dogs. Billy said, “He is the best grandpa ever.”

 

Latter on in the story Billy goes in the night to get his dogs. I wonder why he went himself. Will something happen to his dogs when he gets them? I really like this book because it involves dogs and I want a dog.

 

Self-Reflection

I think that I did well on the Endangered Orca Whales Article. The reason that I think I did well on this article is because I added many different reasons why the orca whales are endangered. I also added a quote from the NAOO that there are three pods of orca whales in the Puget Sound. I had three paragraphs talking about the orca whales and how they are endangered.

I think that I need to work on adding the orca whales into the actual. For example, when I was putting ideas into my article I has a hard time adding how it is affecting orca whales. I also think that I could have added a few more quotes but one is okay to me.

   There they are the Orca Whales. Wait there are fewer now. Since the last time they came to the Puget Sound there were about 200 Whales, now there are only about 90 whales. Lynne Bare of the NOAA says “There are three endangered pods of Orca Whales in the Puget Sound.” From what Lynne Bare is saying, it seems that most populations of the Orca Whales are endangered.

   Carbon pollution is the reason that the planet is getting hotter. This is increasing weather disasters. For example, 2012 there was a big flood. The flood caused damaged homes. All of the garbage and the houses that broke, could have got washed away by the flood, and taken to the Ocean waters. Animals like Orca Whales and the Orca Whales food could eat the garbage and they can get sick and choke on the garbage and might even die. If we cut carbon pollution and more use of clean, renewable energy can change the climate.

   Global Warming has also caused many other weather disasters. Hurricane Irene caused 45 deaths and nearly $10 billion for the damage. The damage may also be eaten by fish and Whales like the Orca Whales. It can kill them and can also be affecting the world. The Orca Whales are being endangered by many things, and Global Warming can be one.

   Over the years many bad things have happened. It is hurting many things in this world; soon many things can be gone. What can you do to help this world?

            Reading

 In reading I have read a book called Jedi Academy. In this book there is kid named Roan Novachez.  Roan wanted to become a great Pilot and wanted to go to Pilot Academy, but everything went completely wrong. Roan at first didn't know how to do many things. Roan kept trying and he was able to do many things.

In class we are reading a book called Because of Win-Dixy in this book there is a girl whose father told her to go to the store. When the girl came back she came back with a dog. The girl found a dog at the store who was messing the store up. The girl didn't want the dog to go to the hound, so she pretended that the dog was hers. The girl named him Win-Dixy.

Ecocolumns

Science and Ecocolumns

 

 

 

In science we made ecoclumns. An ecocolumn has a Terrarium on the top and an Aquarium on the bottom. We and are partner has to measure the pH levels on the Terrarium and the Aquarium. The Best level for most animals is the level 7. We learned that the higher the pH level is and the lower the pH level is, is bad for most animals. There are three groups. The Road Salt group, Acid Rain group, and Fertilizer group. My group is the Road Salt group. The pH levels are around the same. The levels in my group are 5 and 4.

 

Making the ecocolumns in the first place was really fun. I hope that you learned something by reading this. I know that I did. I really like doing things like this in class.

In this trimester I really enjoyed the Article writing. For example, everyone in the class is making an article about pollution and how it is affecting the animals that live in the ecosystem. I am really good at math. If I get something wrong I recognize it and fix it. My opinion is that the fraction tables are the most fun to do in math mostly they are easy and fun to do. In reading I have read 36 books and finished this year’s book of 30 books that you should be able to read book challenge.

 

I am really enjoying everything that we are doing this year so far and I don’t dislike anything ether. Every once and a while I come across a math problem that is hard to do, but I usually can solve them by myself. I am enjoying school and if you have school you should too.

This year so far I have read 43 books and finished this year’s 30 books that you have to read book challenge. I read books throughout the year. For example, I read books during the holidays, during breaks, (Winter break). I have read a book called Jedi Academy. In this book there is kid named Roan Novachez.  Roan wanted to become a great Pilot and wanted to go to Pilot Academy, but everything went completely wrong.

 

I really enjoy reading in school and out of school. I think that it is really fun and that you get to think about what you are reading. My goal is to read 100 books this year and so far I am doing really well.
